A brand-new 6-foot banana bag typically weighs between 100 to 130 lbs when properly stuffed. The material packed inside dictates whether the bag remains a functional training tool or turns into a hazardous solid pillar.
Warning: Avoid Sand Fillers. Never fill a 6-foot banana bag entirely with sand. Due to gravity and continuous striking vibrations, sand particles will quickly migrate downward, packing the bottom 2 feet of the bag into a rock-solid, concrete-like density that will fracture an athlete's shins or ankles upon impact.

To guarantee your banana bag maintains an even, balanced distribution of weight from the top rim all the way to the floor anchor, follow this structural assembly sequence:
1.Establish a Dense Ground Anchor Base:First 18 Inches.
Pack the absolute bottom of the bag casing with highly compressed, dense fabric rags. Use a heavy wooden post or baseball bat to repeatedly tamp down the rags into the bottom corners. This heavy baseline prevents the bag from flying wildly across the room when struck with low roundhouse kicks.
2.Build the Primary Vertical Striking Core:Middle 4 Feet.
Gradually add small bundles of shredded rags, tamping down every 6 inches of vertical growth. For a slightly firmer bag with less swing, you can insert a pre-wrapped, 2-inch wide cardboard tube packed with sand directly down the geometric center of the bag, surrounding it completely with thick rag layers.
3.Set the Hanger Height Clearance:Final Hanging Alignment.
Mount the bag swivel so that the bottom 2 to 3 inches of the filled banana bag brush lightly against your floor mats. This completely closes the low-kick gap, allowing fighters to safely practice low calf kicks and sweep simulations without their feet sliding underneath the bag casing.
